Hej alla,
It's a fact: our first rainy day of cycling is behind us. On Sunday evening we were swimming in the sea to cool down, and on Monday we were wet as soaked sponge cycling along the coast. What started as an occasional drop early in the morning, soon became cats and dogs later in that same morning. And I'm the first to admit: there more fun tings to do in a holiday. But lucky for us, it got dry around four in the afternoon and we pitched our tent around sunset somewhere along the coast. In Sweden you're free to camp as long you follow some rules. Because we thought we were in Sweden for a very short time, we didn't study those rules, but we search places out of sight and far away from houses, which went very well. We do use a campings now and then, but camping in the wild has our preference.
The Swedish westcoast is lovely. So different from the inland where I was cycling in 2009. Much more a live and large variety of views. Great cycling because the roads are mostly flat, has lots of cycling paths and motorists give you right of way whether you have it or not.
Yesterday we arrived in Göteborg and dicided to have a resting day. Göteborg is 'approximately' pronounced as jute-burj. If you put an upwards inflexion on the 'ju' and a small emphises on the 'bu' sound, you come close. Swedish sounds so åmusing...
We thought about cycling on to Oslo, but despite we like Sweden very much, I long for the easy-going Denmark, the Danes and Koldskål. Remy too feels like going back to Denmark and so, we say goodbey to Sweden and tomorrow we go with the ferry to Frederikshavn in the north of Denmark.
