Hello Everyone!
Last year I concluded with the text: "Next year we'll go to Rome!". Just like a year before, and a year before that we went to Japan....
There are many roads that lead to Rome, but our road leads to Denmark once more!
We chose Denmark again because of our ever lasting financial black hole that is home-improvement, we needed a budget-friendly vacation. For those who didn't hear me (and Remy now too) advocate about vacation in Denmark passionately: there are over a thousand campingspots where you can pitch your tent for free for the night - or close to free, if you're not a motorized traveler (see: here).
The camping spots are always great: In the middle of the woods, at the beach or a designated place in someone's garden.
We'll leave tomorrow morning by train to Puttgarden and cross over by ferry to Rødbyhavn on the Danish island Lolland. We'll arrive late in the evening and search for a place to pitch our tent.
Next we'll be cycling the next three weeks across the danish islands, visiting friends on Sjælland and Fyn and hope to be home on the 5th of July. How we get home is unknown at the moment. Probably by train and bike.I've added an overview map of our route we plan to follow - remember last year? ;-)
The total distance is about one thousand kilometers. Usually we tend to cycle 500 km per week, so we'll have time to cycle home for the most part, unless Denmark is too "hyggelig" ('cosy' comes closest of a translation from both Danish and Dutch).
